Saturday trading boost for Cruises Street

Limerick City Council will shortly appoint 14 no trading stalls for Saturday trading, in the pedestrian centre of Cruises Street to commence in mid September.
Developed in the context of the "Limerick 2030 Economic and Spatial Plan", the objective of this pilot initiative is to extend some short term improvement to the commercial vitality of Cruises Street.
The trading stalls will host high quality local artisan products with a mixture of offerings to interest every consumer.
Director of Economic Development and Planning Tom Enright said "We intend that under the terms of the Casual Trading Act the stalls will be complementary to both existing retailers on Cruises Street and traders in the Milk Market. We are very hopeful that the initiative will animate increased commercial activity and footfall and very much appreciate the support of the Cruises Street retailers in discussions to date."
The renewal initiative for Cruises Street will also incorporate street entertainment and music.
As part of the initiative also, the Council will shortly appoint architects to design a covered area for Quimper Square on Cruises Street.
