The Baggot Estate Recreational Walkway

Ballinacurra Road, Limerick

A 1 km recreational walkway has been completed in the Baggot Estate which Limerick City Council have developed to provide improved recreational amenity in the area. The walkway has the benefit of CCTV surveillance and Limerick City Council are very pleased that, even during construction, the project enjoyed a lot of positive feedback from local walkers.

The walkway was officially opened on Wednesday, 29th February, 2012 by the Mayor Cllr. Jim Long who is particularly pleased to have this amenity in his area. The Mayor said "the walkway will provide a wonderful opportunity for residents in the area to enjoy the natural landscape and to avail of what the are has to offer"

Director of Service Caroline Curley said that "the Baggot Estate Recreational Walkway is a welcome addition to the city's growing network of walkway amenity and is one that will provide attractive visual and walking potential for Ballinacurra and surrounding areas."

This project was the winner in the 'Environment' category in the 2012 Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards, hosted in Dublin on Thursday, 8th November, 2012.
